Data Dashboard

Each January, the OGSS provides an annual report to 花影直播 faculty and staff. It includes an overview of student travel and health, safety, and security incidents. Our data represents travel by the Global Learning Office (GLO) (undergraduate study abroad) plus university-affiliated travel by graduate students and non-GLO undergraduates, also called non-credit travelers. No personally identifiable information is presented in the report unless we receive permission. A snapshot of some of this data is provided below.

International travel is not without risk, but OGSS works in concert with a variety of individuals who provide support to travelers before, during, and after a trip. Read more about how we manage risk. Analyzing incidents may result in changes to student advising, insurance coverages, pre-departure orientations, or program operation.

Travel by Region

2023-24

Top 10 countries for student travelers

Our students visited 88 countries in 2023-24, up two from the prior year. The top eight countries (in order) were the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy, Argentina, France, South Korea and Denmark.

Health & Safety Incidents Abroad

2023-24

student health & safety incidents abroad

Since OGSS began recording incidents, most reports have been minor health-related issues like gastrointestinal illnesses, viral infections, and allergic reactions. In 2023-24, there were no critical incidents. Most injuries were related to activities, such as knees or ankles, with one serious back injury from a fall during a ferry ride. Data shows that intervention by trained leaders can reduce the severity of health outcomes. Security incidents are mostly non-violent thefts, like pick-pocketing and bag snatching at bars and restaurants, along with civil unrest or public protests. There were also reports of sexual misconduct, such as unwanted touching in bars or markets. 花影直播’s Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance offers outreach and support in these cases.
